Component Engineer
Norcott EMS is a leading provider of electronic
design and assembly services. We work with our customers at
the leading edge of new product development from initial design,
prototyping and certification through to volume manufacture,
ongoing service, maintenance and repair. In short - the complete
product lifecycle.
As part of our design and assembly operations
we are constantly adding new electronic components to our
design portfolio and inventory. As a component engineer you
will be responsible for identification and documentation of
new components and establishing a cost effective reliable
supply chain.
Specific Duties
- Identification of customer requirements from BOM's or
Design Engineering.
- Locating appropriate suppliers.
- Obtaining data, quotations and samples.
- Adding components to our internal databases and design
systems.
- Reviewing and managing inventory of standard components.
- Participating in cost and vendor reduction.
- Attendance at technical supplier meetings and exhibitions.
- Collating new product information for the engineering
team.
- Testing, evaluation and qualification of new components.
- Providing client support for obsolete components.
- Assistance with countermeasures for identification of
counterfeit components.
Essential Experience, Capabilities
& Qualifications
5 GCSE's or equivalent, including
Maths and English
Excellent communications skills both internally and customer
facing.
A keen eye for detail and an aptitude for delivering 'right
first time' results.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight time-scales.
Aptitude for Web based searching and information gathering.
Competent with all common applications including databases
and spreadsheets.
Desirable Experience
A previous role in electronic design,
manufacture or procurement.
