Embedded Systems Design Engineer - Hardware

Norcott Technologies is a leading Electronics Design Consultancy based in the North West. We are now seeking to recruit additional engineering staff to meet the requirements of our expanding customer base.

This post is intended for applicants who wish to remain in a "hands on" design role and further their career and benefits package through engineering excellence.

The post does involve a high degree of customer contact and the applicant would be expected to undertake some management functions related to their current engineering projects.

Electronic systems design including;

• Initial concept studies
• Component and subsystem evaluation
• Schematic design
• Simulation, prototyping, commissioning and testing
• Test fixture design and implementation
• Engineering support over product lifetime

Technical support of new and existing customer projects.

Previous Experience

Candidates should have experience in at least two of the following areas:

• Analog design including SMPS
• Ultra high speed acquisition systems, ADCs/DACs
• Ethernet - physical design and protocol
• FPGA design including VHDL (Xilinx or Altera)
• High speed (Gbps) serial I/O
• PCB design for high speed systems
• Automotive design experience in power train and/or body electronics
• General capability in programming in C and assembler for diagnostic purposes and small firmware applications

Education Qualifications

First or Upper second honours degree in electronic engineering, computer engineering or related discipline.

Must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of both analogue and digital circuit theory.

Substantial relevant industry experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Reporting

This position reports directly to the Director - Systems Engineering.
